After many months of thinking, planning and researching The Big Africa Cycle is almost underway. First and foremost I must thank Littlefish and Juno, IT support and Web designers respectively. They’ve put in a lot of effort to get this website up and running. In less than 4 weeks I will be pedalling away from my front door, riding out the first few kilometres of a 20,000km plus expedition. It’s an exciting, but also slightly daunting prospect. I may have already cycled from Japan to England, but Africa is a different challenge altogether. Over the weeks and months I hope to keep this site updated with news, photos and stories from the road. To keep up to date with my progress, why not subscribe to the newsletter. It’s sure to be an adventurous journey.

Hi Peter, and congratulations on this new website! I hope all is going as planned :-)We have been reading your blog and updates for quite a few months now, nice work!
Time is ticking fast indeed. My husband Jedrzej and I are knee-deep into preparing for our own trip in November(but I wish we could be leaving next month too!). We might actually meet you somewhere on the road as we will be cycling from Marrakesh…
All the best and good luck with these dreadful jabs (Have you had the rabies done yet? I am really dreading this one!)

Hi Marlene, thanks for writing and the comments on the website. It looks like we may meet in Morocco – that would be great. I haven’t bothered with a Rabies jab – they’re expensive and I cycled 3 years without one – lots of dogs in India, Tibet, Iran, Turkey and Jordan, but I used the age-old stone throwing to keep them away. Stay in touch – your site looks great too.
Peter
