@Colin, Was rather fond of the last downpour - unfortunately only lasted 15 minutes. Nice and refreshing. Thanks for the pre-warning though. I'm hoping I can watch England beat the USA this evening.

Hi Peter, it seems by your "prolonged stay" in Gambia that you have taken a bit of a shine to slip of a country! I have been watching my weather satellite site www.intellicast.com/storm/hurricane/atlanticSatellite.aspx and have seen some pretty big weather systems heading out of Mali towards the Casamance, Guinee Bissau/Guinea Conakry regions. It is a good site to get advance warning of storms into the area you are now heading as well as watching the seed storms that will become hurricanes over the other side of the Atlantic! Just watched the opening World cup match RSA v Mexico with a very good showing by RSA to hold Mexico to a draw. You had better keep abreast of the various games to use the news as "ice breakers" at the lonely road blocks and borders that you come across. Just mentioning Manchester United and "Beckham is from the same country as me" will not be good enough!! Glad to here you are pushing on, keep safe and good luck.
