During the journey I will be raising funds for The Against Malaria Foundation. Malaria kills more people in Africa than any other disease and every 1 in 5 childhood deaths is caused by it. Mosquito nets are the most effective means of prevention and The Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) help by purchasing insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) to be distributed in malaria affected areas.

Unlike many other charities the AMF has no administration costs. Each net costs less than $5 and 100% of funds donated to the charity are spent on nets. You can read how this is achieved here. In a recent independent review from Givewell, the AMF were one of only a few charities to be rated as recommended.

Malaria exists in a large number of countries through which The Big Africa Cycle will pass. By working with the AMF I will be helping to distribute the very nets which are funded from the journey.

The fact that a simple net over a child’s head really does make a difference is the reason I have chosen to support this charity.

You can make a secure online donation by visiting www.againstmalaria.com/petergostelow, or create your own fund-raising activity and link it to the Big Africa Cycle. To do this go here. The fund-raising target of the expedition is to raise 1 bed net for every kilometre cycled. Please get involved and support this great cause.
